Early life and education
Rameshwar Singh Kashyap was brought into the world in 1927 in Semra, a small village located in Sasaram, Bihar. His father, Rai Bahadur Janaki, served as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) under the British Government, while his mother was Ramasakhi Devi. Kashyap commenced his early education in Navgachia, situated in the Munger district of Bihar. He then went on to complete his Matriculation from Munger Town school.
In 1948, Kashyap acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from Patna University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in 1950 from the same institution. Subsequently, he began his teaching career as a professor of Hindi at B.N. College within Patna University. Later on, he served as a professor at a college in Arrah, where he eventually retired.
Professional Journey
The journey of his writing profession commenced in 1942 when his initial Hindi composition got published in the monthly journal named Kishor in Patna. Later, he gained immense popularity for his remarkable writing skills showcased in the Bhojpuri play Loha Singh. In the 1960s, he achieved a milestone when his Bhojpuri short story “Machhri” got published in the April edition of the weekly journal “Anjor”. This publication boosted his reputation as a renowned writer. In 1991, he was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shree award, acknowledging his exceptional contributions to the field of literature.
